A (cool) Chicken Duvet Cover- Review

A while back I was contacted by a lovely man from Vertbaudet who offered me some goodies in return for a review. Vertbaudet, just in case you haven't heard of it, is a company originally from France that sells children's clothes and lovely home stuff for their rooms.

I was intrigued as it is a catalogue I had often looked at but for one reason or another never actually ordered from. Now my kids have enough clothes to be honest. We get hand me downs from their cousins and I had already bought all the clothes they needed for the summer. But we were (well still am really) in the middle of doing up Little Miss Sunshine's bedroom (which had not been updated since it was painted for the birth of Little Miss Star), so I perused the child's bedroom section and was very excited to see they had a duvet cover with chickens on it - squeeee!

A Free Range chicken duvet cover with chickens in wellies - well that was it I was sold - had to have it. I wasn't 100% sure whether the colours would go with the new colour scheme but I didn't really care. If they didn't it would go in Little Miss Star's room instead. The website is pretty easy to use and I could see it was available.

The only small issue in ordering duvets was working out the size as they do a single and a double and they are just listed in measurements. I also wanted a pillowcase to go with it (these are not included in the set as with many British sites) and you have to be a little careful here too as the main matching pillowcase (with chickens) comes in the Continental square shape. If you want a rectangular housewife pillowcase that is usually used over here the matching one still matches the colourway but is just spotty. This seems to be similar for all their duvet and pillow sets. However nice Vertbaudet man was duly contacted and in two days time the parcel arrived.

Vertbaudet Free Range Chicken duvet cover on arrival - shows tuck in flap
I was rather excited and practically ripped it open. It was rather lovely - really nice quality in 100% cotton and the chicken design is gorgeous. The colour was a little different from the website - slightly more orangey but colours can be very hard to show on screen, This did mean though that it was definitely going in Little Miss Star's bedroom but it helped stave off the green eyed monster that was rearing it's ugly head over all the lovely things that Little Miss Sunshine was getting in her 'new' room!

It also comes with a great little tuck in flap (with secret chicken on it!) at the bottom so it is easy to put on with no buttons or poppers and the flap keeps it in place on the bed - what a fab idea - no duvet riding up the bed! It has been washed once and washed up well but being 100% cotton it does really need ironing. That's the trouble with cotton bedlinen - feels so much nicer but does need an iron!

Would I order another one? Definitely - Vertbaudet have some fabulous designs for girls and boys that are just a bit different in some gorgeous colours (no branded princesses or pigs here!) and for 100% cotton they are good value for money (even if they do need ironing!) And if you want a chicken one have them on sale at the moment with 20% off!

P.S. They have lots of other lovely stuff too.

I was sent a Vertbaudet duvet cover and pillowcase for free for this review but I have received no other payment or incentive and the review is all my own opinions.

Olympics London 2012 - 52 Photo Project - Week 30

So it was the first week of the holidays. I managed not to kill them and prevent them from killing each other. Apart from that there was dress shopping for holiday later this year (dismal), lots of sun and water splashing (fantastic fun), the usual working mum time juggling and the Olympics and London 2012 (how amazing was that opening ceremony?)

Actually smallest and I didn't go to an Olympic Event but we soaked up the atmosphere and sneaked in a trip to the biggest toy shop EVER (you know the one I mean) and still managed to catch a glimpse of Team GB cycling on the Mall (a medal was not to be but it was exciting nonetheless).

If you would like to see more of my little Photo Project take a peep here.
